Board of Directors - Job Description
Schedule: Monthly virtual Board meeting - 4th Monday at 1:30pm
Term Length: Terms of office are 3 years; Officer Terms are 2 years
Responsibilities: Collectively, the Board of Directors assumes legal, fiscal and philosophical responsibility, and establishes policy, for all activities of the Florida Downtown Association, Inc. Board members provide leadership for the program, raise operating and capital funds, participate in committee assignments, and serve as advocates of economic revitalization and historic preservation. Board members serve as volunteers with no compensation provided or expected. Board members represent the larger view supporting revitalization and economic development efforts of Florida downtowns and business districts.
Tasks and Requirements:
Attend annual planning sessions as scheduled and program events as available.
Attend all monthly Board of Directors meetings with at least one in-person meeting annually.
Serve on at least one of the board’s standing committees and attend meetings with a 75% participation level:
a. Organization;
b. Education;
c. Advocacy;
d. Communications; or
e. other ad hoc groups sustaining the organization.Volunteer as needed for Association events/activities.
Oversee planning and fiscal control for Florida Downtown Association, Inc.
Become familiar with the organization’s vision, mission and goals for each year’s work plan.
Ensure that objectives and activities are consistent with the Association’s goals and objectives.
Review the organization’s plans and budget, and annually participate in strategic evaluations of the program’s effectiveness.
Advocate for the Association at a local, state, and national level.
Make a commitment to help raise monies for operation of the Florida Downtown Association, Inc.
Fulfill financial obligations to the Florida Downtown Association, Inc. by paying membership dues minimally at an individual level.
Commit an estimated 5 hours of time monthly, along with talents and resources to ensure the success of the organization.
